Can't Enable Scanning - Xerox WorkCenter 7775

I think a client may have reset his 7775 copier and now there is no way to enable scanning from the machine.  When I log in as an admin through Centerware, there is no Scan tab on the page and there are no services listed. I previously had the copier set up to scan to an SMB folder on a PC along with scan templates. What did I miss here, is the scan software gone or can it be reinstalled?  Thanks in advance if you can help, but please don't reply with a "contact Xerox support".

They need to find their activation SIM to reprogram the machine to have scan ability.


 The optional SIMs include:

  • B1 Key SIM
  • Scan / E-mail SIM
  • Internet Fax / SFax SIM
  • IJO SIM (Immediate Job Overwrite)
  • JBA SIM (Job Based Accounting)

If an option is not present or the speed setting is incorrect perform the following steps:

  1. Open Paper Tray 2 and remove the small plastic cover located to the right side of the tray.
  2. Remove the small plastic bag with the SIMM card(s) from the storage compartment on the paper tray.
  3. Locate the orange slot on the left side, at the rear of the WorkCentre.

    CAUTION: Do not insert the SIM card into the slot until the WorkCentre is at a Ready state.

  4. Line up the black arrow on the required SIM card with the black arrow on the WorkCentre, and then push the card into the slot until it stops and the green LED above the slot begins to flash.

    NOTE: If the red LED is illuminated, remove the SIM card and re-insert the card. Make sure the two black arrows are aligned.

  5. Remove the SIM card from the slot when the green LED has stopped flashing.
  6. Repeat steps 3 – 5, as necessary, for any remaining SIMM cards.
  7. Insert the SIMM card back into the plastic bag it was packaged in, and store in the paper tray compartment.
  8. Replace the plastic cover, and then close the paper tray.
  9. Print another Configuration Report to verify that the purchased features are installed. It may be necessary to reboot the machine for the change to take effect.

    NOTE: When a SIM has been installed, it is serialized to that particular machine and cannot be used on another WorkCentre.

Joe, thanks a lot for the reply.  I'll take a look for the SIM card later this week and go through your steps if I can find it.

Is there a good reason why these settings would have been lost?  The copier LCD panel seems to be reverting to the initial setup/confirmation screen, and jobs won't print until those options are confirmed.

Thanks again, Joe.  I would never have found those SIM cards in a million years!  Everything is working again and I cloned the config file.
