Scan to SMB, error 018-763

Hello to everyone, I have a little problem with Xerox 6515DN.

I brought this MFP two weeks ago and I have installed it in a little LAN with WindowsServer2012 Domain.

I have configured the "Scan to.." option to save the .pdf file in a share folder archive in the server, always was good.

The MFP saw the LAN perfectly.


Now, I don't have change anything, the MFP doesn't search in the LAN. When I try to search in the SMB LAN, it report to me that there is "Suddenly communication error". When I try to send a pdf scan to server, that I have saved in "Contacts", the MFP reports to me the error: 018-763: char convert error in SMB.


I hope that someone can help me...

Something certainly has changed, and it almost certainly is on your server, not the printer.


I'd wager that SMBv1 has been disabled, and with good reason.


The 6515 is fully certified to work via SMB2 and 3, so for it to fail for the above reason, I would assume the scan was setup using port 139, when it should be port 445.



As for the Discovery portion, I am looking into what may have caused that and will edit this post when I find something.

thank you so much for your reply.

I try to do these things:

- upgrade the WindowsServer2012 and restart it.

- restart Xerox MFP

Now it works, I can send pdf to server without any problem.

I can explore the network without problem.
