Urgent: Firmware Upgrade Hang up, Xerox Workcentre 7535

This is an urgent issue. We tried to upgrade our firmware from v061.121.224.18803 to SPAR Software Release version 061.121.227.03404 using the web interface upgrade process. Now, our workcentre 7535 hangs up during the upgrade process. We left it overnight, by the next morning still in software upgrade process screen. Please tell me what to do now?

Reboot and try again, if it won't boot, put the DLM upgrade file in a folder called altboot (case sensitive) on a USB stick and boot up the printer with the USB stick in it, failing that, send me a PM linking back to here and I will give further details on how to proceed.

Tried to reboot yesterday and all comes back to normal but upgrade was a failure. This release of firmware version "SPAR Software Release version 061.121.227.03404" is official? I'm afraid to attempt again to upgrade the firmware as it may lead to a total unusable machine.

It is a highly suggested firmware actually. Decision is yours, install the firmware to fix whatever doesn't work, or don't, and go without the feature you are trying to fix.

What i'm trying to fix actually is the reboot issue. When I'm scanning consecutively, the machine reboot by itself. And if there is a long queue of processing scanned documents the machine reboots infinitely until a human intervention will delete those queeued documents.

 

Printing and copying doesen't affect the printer's behaviour as the way scanning does. Now, I thought that updating the firmware might fix the issue. However, the past situation gave a bad feeling not to pursue to update the firmware. If you recommend me to do the firmware upgrade, can you assure me that I will not get into trouble that would lead to a total unusable machine?

I can tell you it is very unlikely, and in that case, the other method via USB, or the other one I can tell you via PM will resurrect it (The machine, not your settings) anyway. But it's a computer you are dealing with, I cannot guarantee a flawless install, anyone who tries to say anything with 100% certainty in the electronics industry isn't worth listening to.

Dear Joe,

 

I was able to upgrade the firmware successfully using Altboot procedure. However, the issue still not resolved. When i scan to usb, the machine reboots automatically by itself. Do you have any idea on this matter?

The firmware I linked fixed that problem in the software, if yours is still doing it then the USB port must have an issue that is causing corruption, you would need a service technician.

I may not totally agree with you that the USB port may be the source of corruption, unless we can run a diagnostics. Some circumstances are fine like "Printing via USB" and a few pages (approx. 10 to 20 pgs) "Scanning to USB" even consecutively (utmost < 3 to 5 files). More than that, the machine would reboot by itself.
