We have a Xerox Phaser 8560 MFP that will shutdown and restart (power cycle) whenever we send a print job from Internet Explorer 9. This happens on all of our PCs whether we print via a local TCP/IP printer port or from a printer share. This does not happen in Internet Explorer 8 or any version of Firefox. It also doesn't happen in any other program that we have tested. We have tried 32-bit and 64 bit IE9. We have 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 on the machines we are testing from. We have tried the specific 8560 PS driver as well as the Global Xerox PS driver.
I don't know what else we can try to resolve this issue.

I found a solution but it came from another issue we were having with the printer going offline on the network. Support says that they have seen issues with the Phaser printers going offline in networks that have Cisco switches. We have such a network. They provided us with a 4.9.6 version of the firmware for the Phaser 8560MFP which solved both the power cycling when printing from Internet Explorer 9 issue, and the printer becoming inaccessible on the network issue.
They stated that they aren't sure the exact cause but in networks with Cisco switches the printers are having all resources consumed and then they eventually stop responding. The beta firmware they gave us fixed this problem and the IE 9 issue.

Who provided the 4.9.6 version of the firmware for the Phaser 8560MFP and how does one install it on the MFP? I have a Linksys wireless router, which I believe is made by Cisco.
Currently the unit ONLY displays the message: "RAM error". I removed/reinstalled (as directed) with same resultant message. Xerox wants $719 for a 512Mb ram chip, while Crucial wants $26; what's up with that? I am having ACM Computers analyze the existing ram, but haven't heard back.

If you go to the Phaser 8560 MFP knowledge base and enter drops off in the Search field, you should get a "Printer Drops off the Network" return result. Click on this and in the solution to check the firmware, go to the bottom and click on the link in the Related Items section to download the firmware. This will give you the 4.9.6 firmware you need.
I hope this helps.
