Our department has a Workcentre 7675 and we've got to the point where no one can print to it anymore, Xerox says it is an Apple or network issue, and it's being used solely as a photocopier, with everyone now walking to a distant Ricoh to get their printouts.
I decided to try and figure it out one last time. I was surprised that there is a more or less current driver (Mac OS Common Print Driver Installer 4.14.0) and installed it, then ran CUPS to set up defaults, particularly the Xerox accounting feature. We have a number of users set up on the machine and require the user number to be inputted.
However, I am unable to successfully print. When I send a job and enter the proper user code, it is shown as "printing--the printer is in use" under printer jobs, then a second "job" shows up called "Printer Status," detailed as "incoming," and nothing happens. I have to delete the job.
I note that elsewhere in the forums there is a admin-level discussion of this "printer status" issue but it's beyond my understanding.
So next I tried logging in to the machine's IP address through a browser to check on the accounting properties. They seem to be the same as before. But then I noticed the "Print" tab on the admin page. It turns out I was able to successfully choose a file from this page and print to the printer with the standard User ID.
Can anyone offer any advice on what is preventing me printing from within applications, since printing seems to work fine on the admin page?

Try not picking the printer from the list when you install it, choose to install it manually via IP address, then pick HP Jet direct as the port. You appear to be having an issue with IPP/Bonjour, so a manual install via HP Jet direct will get it working.

Update: this solution worked, for a week or two. And now everyone who was able to print can no longer. You hit "print" and it seems like the job is sent, but the printer doesn't seem to get anything. Not sure what changed.

Most likely you updated the Mac (10.13.4 for example) and they (Apple) helpfully(Sarcasm) replaced the driver with theirs (Generic PS or Airprint)
Because if HP Jet direct was being blocked, Windows PC's would be affected too (Windows by default uses RAW, which is the same port)

Can't say this will work in every situation, but it's possible that the printing protocol is wrong. If you're adding via lpadmin and ipp, try lpd or vice versa.
If the solution is not work Properly you may call Printer support.
