Phaser 5550DT unable to change paper type in Tray 2 "Illegal Tray Number"

I have discovered that my Phaser 5550DT will not pull paper from Tray 2.  The paper type is set to prepunched and I am unable to change it.  The change request is acknowledged but gives me an "Illegal Tray Number" error.  The firmware is up to date, PS 5.6.1.  Paper Source is set to Automatic and the Tray Sequence is set to 6-2-3-4-5.  Thoughts anyone?

Are you possibly translating the error message? That message appears to not exist on any device according to Google.

I'm thinking it should be more along the lines of invalid over illegal, and probably the tray is dedicated as prepunched being the cause.

Re: Phaser 5550DT unable to change paper type in Tray 2 "Illegal Tray Number"

Sorry, I am not translating anything and I also looked on Google as well as several other search engines.  That is the error the printer reports on the web interface when I try to change the paper type from prepunched to any other type.  The exact error is "Illegal Tray Number."

What happens if you program the tray at he printer itself instead of in CWIS?

Re: Phaser 5550DT unable to change paper type in Tray 2 "Illegal Tray Number"

As I operate in a university environment, I have everything locked down at the printer end.  That said, I found the solution.  NVRam reset, re-install the firmware, another NVRam reset, and then change the settings to what is required for my environment.  Something happened to the firmware and it needed to be re-installed.
