WorkCentre 7220 postscript

Hello from Peru,

The company I work for just bought this machine and we're getting this "The job was not printed because the PostScript option is not enabled" error whenever we're trying to print PDF documents using the USB port, I was checking on other similar posts and thing with us is that we're using it mainly as photocopy machine, so it's not connected to any computer at all, is there anyway to fix this without connecting it to a computer? Thank for your response

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

Hi you!

"The job was not printed because the PostScript option is not enabled"

The postscript option is an extra feature on this machine, if you know you have bought this I suggest you call Xerox so they can send an engineer and turn it on for you, if not I suggest you buy it or use a computer with the pcl6 driver instead to print the document.

Best Regards

Kimzi

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

Hi Kimzi,

Thank you very much for your help, so as I understand then the only way to "fix" this without connecting the machine to a computer is to call Xerox here in my city, or in this case the provider since we're located in a kinda remoted city Yurimaguas, so they send somebody to do it for us? I have coworkers here who say that they were able to print PDF files without a problem, but somehow it just stopped doing it. I dont know if that is possible so I ask, is it possible to deactivate this option without noticing?

Thanks again for your help, Mirna

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

Hi again!

The postscript option is not possible to disable if you're not an engineer (unless you have access to the engineers own service menu), do you know if you paid for this extra feature?

If not, yes I suggest you call your local provider and ask if they can install this for you, I dunno how much it costs though.

Best Regards

Kimzi

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

You may have this feature but it may have to be enabled. You need a Feature Installation Key. Your salesman would know if you purchased the postscript feature. You can also find out by going to the software activation portal and inputting your serial number. If you have it then login as admin/1111, tools, device settings, general, feature installation, enter the key, press ok.

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

We have a customer that is using a MAC, but is having issues printing with Postscript. They have a Xerox 7220 but having this issue with the Yosemite print driver. Do they need a Feature Installation Key to use a postscript driver? They get the printout error of postscript not enabled. Please Help!! Is there any work arounds or is there a way we can tell if the customer purchased Postscript for their machine?

Re: WorkCentre 7220 postscript

Do they need a Feature Installation Key to use a postscript driver?

Yes

Is there any work arounds?

No, they could attempt Apples Generic PCL driver if it is available, but it won't do finishing, accounting, tray selection etc etc

is there a way we can tell if the customer purchased Postscript for their machine?

In CWIS:

CWIS > Properties > General Setup > Configuration Report > Postscript

And there is a website in the Xerox LAN that will allow you to see if one exists on a Serial Number, but it isn't 100% (Doesn't show things that have never been installed, or were installed but the device never connected to Xerox Edge servers (AMR/ASR etc). Your manager can get you access if you don't have it, I cannot link it here (External forums) but you may get it by request on the internal forums.
