2-sided copying on 3-hole paper

Product Name: AltaLink B8145 / B8155 / B8170 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Not Specified

I am copying from USB.  A pdf with even number of pages copies to 2-sided pages correctly.  If the pdf has an odd number of pages, the 3-hole punches are reversed in the output tray (opposite the regular pages) and a blank side is left before the last page is printed.  Confusing, I know.

Example--copying a 5-page pdf.  Page 1 and 2 are front and back of first sheet (holes on the left as normal).  Pages 3 and 4 are on sheet two and holes are on the left as normal.  Then for page 5 the punched holes are on the right in the output tray and a blank side is inserted BEFORE page 5 is printed.

Any ideas???
