I finally found the culprit. It's not Windows 7 itself, but Windows Live Sign In Assistant.
It comes with Live Essentials, just uninstall it and everything will run smooth.
Youl have to uninstall the entire Live Essentials Suite completely (no messenger, movie maker, etc).
BTW, the latest firmware (20.103.05.007) won't fix this issue.
I hope someone of xerox staff can read this to address this issue and help us.
I've found the new firmware and installed it. But I continue to get the same error: "job failed because file name is invalid".
Fabio, where can I find the new firmware? I could find only version 20.102.03.000 (which is the version I already have) in support.xerox.com.
I know it's an old thread, but: any news on this?
We got ourselves a 3635MFP this week and we're already regreting it, there's no human power that let us scan over the network.
Tried all suggestions listed in this thread, also have installed SPAR version 20.102.03.025, still no luck.
I'm out of ideas.
trying to configure 4 Windows 7 Home Premium machines to scan via network SMB.
PS: Almost forget: in the MF display it reads "Job failed beacuse file name is invalid" every time we try to scan.
Thanks in advance.
Yep, the firmware is current. I'm guessing there is a workaround for this issue with windows 7. Due to the numerous machines with the same issue (listed in previous post). Any other suggestions? I have tried just about everything.
first of all, have you all the latest spar firmwares installed? lots of scanning issues have been resolved in the spar software. this firmware is not the same that is listed on the download pages, you have to call xrrox to obtain if
on xerox pages are only general releases that are out of date
I'm working on this same issue with no luck. I am actually an analyst for a Xerox agency and I've been trying to get this to work for ages.
I have found the following machines have troubles scanning to Windows 7:
Our 7435 in our office will scan to Windows 7 with the exact same settings as the 3635 machine.
I keep getting the "File Name is Invalid" error. The 9203 in our office will give a login error. Both are pointing to the same folder and set up exactly the same. I talked to 2nd level support and they gave me a step by step with pictures and the only difference between what they did and what I did was put a "/" in the "Default Repository Document Path" area. I tried that, but didn't change anything.
Any ideas or fixes on this? We have a lot of customers switching to Windows 7 that need scanning on these machines.
