interesting idea... will do that this evening when I'm back home !!
I also have 2 new drums (genuine) waiting... I suspect (actually, I know...) that the previous owner must have been tampering with toner cartridges (refill, reset chips...) and with the drums as well... so that may not have helped either...

Philippe
Hi,
Before losing all hope, this is what I'd do in your place:
If it this the exact same code (361.362) that point the the Yellow LPH subsystem, I'd try to move the Y drum to another slot and reboot. If the code stay the same after reboot, you'll know that a tech will be needed. If the error code change for something else then I'd try to replace the drum before anything else.
regards.
K.
Thanks for the previous feedback... a bit what I thought...
I got the error yesterday again, but as you stated... without a service manual, the provided info is not going to be very useful... and a SM is no public info, so I'm affraid I'll have to wait to find some on Internet, because having a Xerox tech come along for a machine bought on Ebay will probably cost more than the machine... ;-
I could eventually try my luck with an older SM...

Philippe
Hello,
thanks a lot for the feedback... I had the error only once, so I'll obviously first see how things goes without replacing anything... And btw, if LPH units start to make problems on a unit that barely has 60k prints on the counter, I'd suspect other problems, too... and challenge the idea of having those replaced vs. finding another 78xx machine...
Kind regards,
Philippe
Hi Phillip. I did some digging around and got this information.
Communication error between MCU-PF and LPH Unit (y) (data...
Communication error between MCU-PF and LPH Unit (Y) (data read error from LPH)
NOTE:
When turning the power OFF, turn OFF the Power Switch first and then the Main Power Switch.
Cause/Action
Check the following:
If no problems are found, replace the following parts in sequence:
You will need a Serivce manual to figure out that, I'm not a tech so I can't tell you what most of this means.
Hi,
sorry, but I bought this printer (WC7830) 2nd hand, and I have no support contract whatsoever... I'm always doing that since about 10 years, and I buy my supplies on Internet, too... for the +-15k prints a year, this is by far the cheapest option... Once the printer starts to make problems, I get a new one...
But still, pretty strange that this error is not documented anywhere... (excepted in the Phaser 7800 service manual, but I don't know if this can be transposed for the WC 78xx ???)
And it must be something serious, the printer stated itself that it was unavailable, and that power cycling was required...
Hi philippeannet,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. If you are sure that is the code you are getting I can not find it in the documentation. You would need to contact your technician and he/she should be able to look it up for you. Please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Workcentre 7830
had 2 times error 361.362.00, device stuck, power cycle required... solved after that.
What the hell does this code means ?? If similar to the phaser 7xxx, something with the LPH unit, but no idea whether this also applies here...???
Any help/hints appreciated
