Re: Altalink C8030 Doesn't Wake Up

Jump to solution

I have a printer that is having trouble waking from sleep mode so I followed the steps you mentioned, but What is your recommended Delay settings for going from Ready Mode ->Low Power Mode->Sleep Mode?

Would 0 minutes mean it won't go into low power mode?  or would 0 mean that it would immediately go into low power mode?

Thank you,

kareng

Yeah, the USB thing is very annoying, and some of us have escalated it as a bug, Engineering apparently disagrees, so it is one of those things we have to just remember to always turn on when things get weird. I'm sure it will get fixed eventually, for now, the fix is easy if you know it, impossible if you don't.

At least the amount of power it uses is negligible

Thank you Joe. That fixed it. I was on the firmware you recommended, so it was that USB power setting.

OK, so here are a few points to consider.

If they "updated firmware" that could mean 2 things, they updated to a new revision of the General release (A version numbered 100.XXX.057.0960X) that doesn't have many of the fixes available in the Spar releases (currently it would be version 100.XXX.018.01610) which is a vastly better release in every way, but is not available via the drivers page on Xerox.com (You have to dig through the Xerox.com/security site)

Grab that and install it from here if they installed the General.

Then we have the Power saver itself, if it was set by someone to be Sleep and wake at scheduled times then what you are seeing is expected, it definitely is not the default setting though, someone would need to have applied it

Check/change it here:(1)

EWS > Properties > General Setup > Energy Saver

Also take note of the (2) option listed there on the same screen in the above screenshot, there is an odd thing on these devices where the USB port, when not set to powered, will actually clock down the NIC to save power too, so it will go from Gigabit, to 100 Full, to 100 Half et al, until a job comes in, and in some (read many) environments it will actually cause a temporary disconnnect during the switch, which can cause the driver port to time out the job, and the machine won't wake.

In short, set the USB mode to powered and update the firmware if on anything but the latest I linked, I'm pretty sure the USB thing is your issue.

Altalink C8030 Doesn't Wake Up

Jump to solution
Product Name: AltaLink C8030 / C8035 / C8045 / C8055 / C8070 Color Multifunction Printer

Our Altalink C8030 works great except when we send a print job while it's asleep it doesn't wake up. We have to awaken it for it to begin printing, which is a nuisance for people printing from the other end of the building. A support rep came and ran an update (firmware?) and said that it should awaken by default, but it did not fix the issue and we have been unable to contact him since. Is this a design flaw? Is this a setting that is hidden? Thanks.
