indeed, book scanning can be accomplishhed indeed with additional scan software, so you dont have todo it manually

it breaks down the tif/pdf files and splits them into 2 pages , if scannen from a3, and offcourse in the correct page order

You would need to call Xerox and see if they will add the option.

The feature you really want is the one that exists on this device only for copies, it is called Book Copying and does exactly what you are requiring, it does not exist in any scan apps though. I can't say for sure why it does not, as it always did on older products, possibly due to piracy (Copying Text books for example)

We need the machine to rotate images when scanning from the glass.  How do we make it do that?  

It's an unrealistic expectation to have top of the page always on the left side of the glass.  With large size books in landscape, the top of the page will be to the left for EVEN numbered pages, the top of the page will be to the right for ODD numbered pages.  We need the machine to rotate every other page.  My 18 year old Ricoh did this.

There is no duplex for output in scanning, only 2 sided originals.

If you are laying paper on the glass, you rotate it when you lay it down, not the printer.

You don't get that option with the Document feeder, so the option exists when using it.

The "Rotate Side Two" feature only works when using the Automatic Document Feeder, not when scanning from the glass.  We've pushed every possible combination of buttons and can't get the machine to rotate an image when scanning from the glass.  

This is very important to us as we frequently scan hard-bound, large size music scores (landscape); it's physically impossible to always have the top of the page facing left.  Our scans now come out with every other page upside down and this takes a long time to manually correct in the software.
