There are no scan drivers of any sort for the CQ8900. (At least where a Mac is in use)
Scan is done via SMB or FTP.
Create a Folder called scans in the documents folder and share it with Read & Write Access for my user - labuser
Create a path called Scanned_Stuff within scans and shared it as well.
I provided a screen capture below showing the setup and scans that I have scanned to it.
Here is a screen capture of how I have my file repository setup on the printer to scan to these folders.
