Re: Can't get Xerox Altalink 8045 to scan to e-mail.

SSL/TLS is depreciated.

Gmail and Office365 both use port 587 with STARTTLS

Re: Can't get Xerox Altalink 8045 to scan to e-mail.

Trying to set up our first Xerox and can not get it to scan to gmail when I go to connection encryption I am not seeing the SSL/TLS option. Will the 8045 do this?

Re: Can't get Xerox WorkCentre 7530 to scan to e-mail.

No need to call Xerox for latest firmware, the latest is 061.121.229.18600 (R19-07) and is located right here.

It works fine with Office365.

smtp.office365.com port 587 using STARTTLS

See here if you want to know about getting spar firmware without calling for other devices.

Re: Can't get Xerox WorkCentre 7530 to scan to e-mail.

Having same/simliar issue.

The Xerox 7530 is using an out of date security protocol, TLS 1.0.

Microsoft (and most email systems now) are only supporting TLS 1.2. FYI, TLS 1.2 was released almost 12 years ago.

Now to call Xerox's 1800 # directly to see if there ever was a firmware release that enabled TLS 1.2 on the 7530!

Re: Can't get Xerox WorkCentre 7530 to scan to e-mail.

Hi Freddy,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for setting up SMTP setting for Office 365 and see if that will clear up the issue you are having. If the solution does not help please consider contacting your local support centre and ask to speak to someone on Second Level support.

Thanks,

Can't get Xerox WorkCentre 7530 to scan to e-mail.

Product Name: Other - specify product in post
Operating System: Not Applicable

Hi Xerox Forum,

We just recently migrated from an on premise Exchange server to Office 365. I've attempted to configure the new e-mail server credentials into the WorkCentre 7530, each type of authentication mechanisim does not work! I've tried STARTTLS, SSL, and even (No encryption) to no avail. I've updated the firmware twice, once from Xerox's public website, and the second time by reaching out to our copier vendor and having them recommend a newer firmware.

Out of desperation I purchased hosting other than Office365 with a Unix LAMP type of qmail/postfix host, to no avail either.

I believe the crux of the problem is the way the WorkCentre uses it's various authentication mechanisims in the SMTP client.

Here's a typical conversation:

220 host213.lolsmtpserver.com ESMTP
EHLO XEROX7530.WIDGETCO.local
250-host213.lolsmtpserver.com
250-STARTTLS
250-PIPELINING
250-8BITMIME
250-SIZE 0
250 AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5
AUTH CRAM-MD5
334 PDE4OTMxLjE0NzE4NjIwNzRAc310cC5zdXJlc2VydmVyLmNvbT4=
eGVyb3hAMjQxMWZyaWNrLmNvbSAzNTExM2RhMTEzZjk0NTM5ODg0NGQ7YWI5NjZlZjk2OA==
535 authentication failed (#5.7.1)

As you can see, you'd say oh well you've got the wrong password dummy! I've carefully entered the username/password into the SMTP configuration many times. It simply refuses to work.

I called Xerox support and the tech on the phone said the WorkCentre 7530 doesn't support TLS 1.2, so I'm out of luck in that regard I'm afraid.

Is there any way I can change the SMTP authentication mechanisim to something like PLAIN so I can see if I'm not losing my mind?

I'm currently on Version: 061.121.229.18600

Thank you for looking!
