The term Xerox uses is Spar Software.
It is nothing like Beta software, but most look at it that way, at a time it pretty much was.
Now days things change pretty fast, and when they do, things break, sometimes really common things break, sometimes a weird workflow causes an issue for a single company. Xerox tends to release the fixes for everything in a new firmware. That would be a spar firmware. They don't post them to Xerox.com for casual browsing because they don't want people with perfectly fine machines installing things just because . Think of it like the motto.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
If it is broke, definitely fix it.
Officially you are supposed to call in, get to 2nd level support, explain the issue, do the testing, get the spar.
I just happen to work here, there is no "voided warranty" concerns or anything.
Obviously since it only happens once a month, I won't be able to tell you until the beginning of April if it worked. But the update did take and the device is working, also from the sound of it, it will probably fix it.
Question, how would I have found this update if you didn't post it? I went and looked and could only see the update mentioned earlier. I've poked around and have not been able to find beta (or whatever they call non-general releases) updates. Not frustrated, just confused looking at the site.
I have no doubt that the issue will be this option in CWIS > Properties > Services > Scan to mailbox > Files. As to the why, no idea. Likely if you were to run a Secure Disk Image overwrite the issue would partially be fixed.
But, having stated that, you are on the general release firmware and there have been reports of jobs occasionally getting stuck in the device with a Processing state, reboot to fix.
There have now been 8 releases since then, to fix many things, including the one it appears you are having. On the plus side, it is very easy to install, as Xerox now has a tool installer that does not require anything but a PC with a connection to the printer via LAN.
I highly suggest you go grab it here and run it to update to the latest release.
About once a month we have noticed our Xerox Workcentre 7225 will just stop printing anything first thing in the morning (prints, copies, faxes). A restart fixes it every time. I have tried a few things (updating firmware, turn off bi-directional communication, upgrade drivers) but nothing has worked.
I was going to downgrade the firmware today, but noticed in the audit logs that every time this has happened, there has been an attempt to "Delete File/Dir Scan To Mailbox" at 23:59:59 and again at 00:00:00. After that, no files will print. I have not found anything about this anywhere else. It does it every morning, normally before 01:00:00, but about once a month the above issue happens. It is on firmware version 072.030.004.09101 and as far as I am aware, it did not happen before this.
Does anyone have any suggestions before I do attempt to take back the firmware?
