Well, as you said it, the point is that we would really need that printer to be a workcentre, more than anything else.
We have two ricoh c900 driven by command workstation, I don't see options related to scan to email on that rip either (while the integrated os of the printer does that job well - including ldap connection).
We're looking into trying to have that printer replaced as part of a commercial agrement with Xerox, hopefully we'll be able to get somewhere..
(I'm kind of out of options where we could keep that printer)
The FreeFlow Print Server unit doesn't actually have a Scan2Email feature. The DC252 Fiery has this feature, but its a very limited feature compared to say a WorkCentre.
If this is a feature that you need and will use on a daily basis, I'd look into getting a Built In Fiery controller. I would say that the Queue Management is 10x better on a Fiery system, as it uses an application called Command Workstation. Have a look at this video, and let me know if this would meet your needs.
Contact your sales rep and see the process for this, I know changing a RIP works different for each sales contract.
What is possible is not well described on their website - I'm contacting them directly.
In the meantime, Xerox says they can't help us :-/
Thanks for your answer!
Wow, that must be a big desk! :smileyhappy:
I was just informed by a colleague that the Creo Spire X260 RIP should be able to do this.
I have not confirmed this, but you might want to look into it.
We do have a DC252 in production, newly renewed (48m lease) with a Freeflow server. That printer answered to specific needs we had (borderless printing + queues management for printing from as400/xes) which we do not have anymore.
So we put that machine on a "normal" users desk, but one funtion is missing: scan to mail.
Xerox says it's impossible to do, and they don't have an option for us server change or somthing).
Is it true?
Can anyone tell me:
1. Is it possible with one of the other servers?
2. How hard is it to change our rip for another one? Is it even possible?
