DocuPrint M255 z - Assign a button to scan to a destination

I don't think the device can do this but I'm asking to see if it can.

I am going through scanning a bunch of receipts.

Evey scan I must:

  • Press the scan button
  • Down arrow twice to select "Scan To Network"
  • Press OK
  • Press OK on Scan to..
  • Press OK on Computer(Network)...
  • Press OK on the address book entry
  • Press the copy button to make it scan

Way too many steps. Is it possible to assign one of the buttons (numbered 1 - 8) on the left side of the machine to do all off this for me? When I try and configure the Address book entries via the Nework Management interface it does not let you select an object from the network address book.

Not really a great response. A support forum shouldn't be limited to one part of the world. I was unaware there are different support forums for differnt parts of the world. If there are, please redirect me to the Xerox Australia support forum.

Regardless what country a device is sold in, Xerox still make it right?

You could have suggested different ways around the problem. I found there was a timeout setting (default at 45 seconds) that I could increase which left the device waiting to perform another scan using the same settings as the last scan. This was a vaild work around.

While the functionality I originally asked about does not existy on this deivce, you could have taken the initive to submit an feature request to product development group. Generally speaking customers are the ones using the products so their ideas are often valid. Is there an official feature request section of Xerox I can forward my suggestion to?

Overall the response I received was poor. Where is the "Rejected Soluition" button or the "Thumbs Down" icon?

Re: DocuPrint M255 z - Assign a button to scan to a destination

Hi box293,

Fuji-Xerox has a support forum, but it appears to not be very active, they do have this and that looks like it will allow you to do what you are requesting.

Some devices are made and sold by Xerox and done so worldwide, then there are products that are made for specific markets, and that applies to Fuji-Xerox as well. Fuji-Xerox is a merger of the 2 companies and is not controlled by Xerox (Think Honda and Acura, or Toyota and Lexus)

It is entirely possible that someone who owns the device, or supports it may be able to chime in here on this forum, I am not in the US and am here often. But nobody in the US/Canada (98% of the forum users) would have even seen an M255z as it is not sold in those markets.

Officially, this forum is P2P and not staffed by Xerox, those of us who work for Xerox and try to help out do so on our own and are not paid or compensated for doing so.

Re: DocuPrint M255 z - Assign a button to scan to a destination

Hi box293,
Thank you again for using this Xerox forum.

I am very glad that you found a work around that could help your situation. Aditionally your solution can help others with similar desires. Thank you for that.

This forum is a peer to peer community where someone familiar with the device may have provided you with a response. There are community guidlines available here that may help understand the intent of this valued service Xerox provides.

Please realize the Xerox Forum is not intended to provide a means for obtaining Xerox-provided support and does not replace the standard processes for requesting onsite service. Although Xerox Certified Technical Experts may participate and support the forum their participation is up to them. There are many other users that also have extensive product knowledge and provide assistance regularly.

As one of the moderators of this forum, I monitor unanswered questions and for those we try to provide the best direction that would help, which in this case was contact your local support center.

Since you are a Xerox customer and have now informed me of your location, I was able to research and find the the following site which has the appropriate 255z product support knowledgebase and downloads from your local Xerox support teams in Australia.
http://onlinesupport.fujixerox.com/setupSupport.do?cid=2&ctry_code=AU&lang_code=en

I was surprised that this FujiXerox Australia Support & Drivers site wasn't directly linked by selecting the map icon or contact link in the Support & Drivers page header and we have notified the webmaster of that. So you may wish to consider making this a favorite or bookmark for now.

With this link you should be able to search the knowledge base of topics and solutions as well as download drivers and documentation. The are Xerox devices that have the ability to create scan templates and program specific features onto console buttons. This site contains a Contact Us link which would also be where you may be able to submit a feature request for a feature already being used elswhere.

Thank you again for your business and for being a Xerox customer.
