Solved the problem (sort of) I was invoking a driver that was corrupt or missing. When I used another one, it worked perfectly well which leads me to a question about driver issues that I'll post separately. BTW it was a 252, not 152.
I may try exorcism:
I just upgraded to Win 7. I uninstalled the driver and OT 4.0 for XP. I then: (1) unplugged the machine (2) installed the driver (3) Plugged in the machine (4) installed OT 4.6.. OT is displayed in the notification area.
When I click it the popup pops up. I click "scan" and get the usual status information (starting scan, etc.). The green status light on the machine flickers briefly. Then nothing happens. There is no "E" in the Doc window and no error message. I also saw the message By the way, Win 7 shows the scanner is recognized and has the correct software. Also, when I use PaperPort, it shows twain as the default drive. However, if I "tell" it to scan, it tells me it can't communicate with the scanner.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I haven't seen any post from anyone in quite the same situation. I do hope someone has an idea because it's hard to find an exorcist.
