I have J75 with Fiery. When I try to scan to email I am getting error message 016-772: DNS server un-sets up in SMTP. This just started occurring. Previously we had no problems scanning to email. I have looked at the server configuration and can find nothing wrong. Can someone help?
Solved! Go to Solution.
There are 2 places for DNS on that device as there are 2 products. The Fiery is on your network and needs to have DNS set, which is done via Command Workstation, login as admin and go to Server > Configure > Network > Protocol > TCP/IP > DNS then Apply > Reboot
Then there is the J75 itself, go to Webtools and select the Xerox Color J75 Press CentreWare link at the lower right
Select the Properties > Connectivity > Protocols >TCP/IP section and check the DNS at the bottom, the preferred DNS server should be 100.100.100.102, the other 2 can be whatever you use typically. It is also highly suggested something be in the domain name field, even if just MSHOME or Workgroup
Joe, thanks for your reply.
IP Address: 100.100.100.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
Gateway Address: 100.100.100.102
Domain Name: mshome.net
Comman Workstation shows:
Primary DNS Server IP Address: 10.0.0.1
Secondary is empty
DNS Suffix: mshome.net
Does this look right?
Arghhh, somehow forgot to attach the 3rd picture.
Primary DNS has to be 100.100.100.102 on CWIS, ad 188.8.131.52 (Google owned open DNS) and another if you want.
If the Fiery is an external, go to it, login to Windows and do this:
Right click on command prompt, select "Run as Administrator"
go to efi\server\system
Last line of resulting text should read: Set Engine Interface – Success
Close command line, reboot server.
Try scan again.
Joe, I tried this:
As you can see, I get a string of numbers and letters after typing "nethelperapp.exe, but adding -setengif_ics does not do anything.
Please copy/paste the command into the command prompt.
If it does not work, or works but does not resolve the issue then there is no more to be done.
Call Xerox and have the Fiery reloaded.
