Re: Failing send scanned files thought gmail

If the machine shows complete, then the mail server has a relay issue, it isn't the printer.

The printer uses the same settings everytime no matter where it goes, if one works, they all do.

Log into the email account via webmail and you will have an email in the sent box (what the printer sent) and another in the inbox (the one from google/Office365 etc) stating that the email failed.

The only way to filter who you send to on the printer would not allow you to have hit send in the first place at the printer. EWS > Apps > Email > Domain Fiiltering

Also, with the odd servers like the aspmx servers you cannot mail outside of gmail domains when not authenticated.

Re: Failing send scanned files thought gmail

Yesterday, 4-2-2020, I had a customer report that Scan to Email was not working.  Looking into the problem I discovered I could Scan to Email to any account other than their domain account.  Xerox tech told me if it scans to any, then it is working.  I had another account call today, with the same issue. Scans to their domain do not work but scans to another account work.  The Xerox C405 says scan complete on all these, the Email only arrives on the different accounts.  I know this is hard to understand, and I thought it was a network security issue until I had another customer complaint.  Any ideas?  Sofware was up to date on both machines.

Re: Failing send scanned files thought gmail

I'd like to add something I discovered the other day at an account.  It had been some time since she utilized the Scan to Email function and she contacted me because the email (Gmail) was failing.  Turns out Google will turn off "Allow Less Secure Apps" if it has not been utilized for some period of time:

Re: Failing send scanned files thought gmail

Install the latest firmware which can be found here.

Log into the Gmail account for the printer and make sure Less Secure Apps is enabled (ignore the warnings)

  • Make sure the time on the printer is correct to within 3 minutes of current

CWIS > Properties > General Setup > Date and Time

  • Enable HTTPs on the printer
