Before 'allow less secure apps' becomes deprecated you will need to enable two factor authentication for the gmail account and create an 'app specific password' in the account settings. When the password is displayed copy it and/or take a screenshot, because once you dismiss the window it is never displayed again. Use that app specific password on your machine as the SMTP password going forward.
Note: Changing the primary email account password invalidates existing app specific passwords and you'll need to regenerate a new one after the account password is changed.
Hello there,
I see no one has responded to this post yet. So, at this point I would recommend contacting your local Xerox Support Department to speak with a Product Specialist for more assistance. Please call 1-800-821-2797 or 1-800-835-6100.
Hello everyone!
I have a couple Xerox machines (mostly AltaLink C8155) that use a GMail address to scan to external email addresses. To get this to work I had to enable "Less Secure Apps" in the Gmail settings. That has been working fine, however I received an email from GMail that on May 30th Google will be disabling Less Secure Apps. I have searched this forum and didn't see anything and was wondering if there was an official workaround to keep the GMail addresses working past that date.
Thank you!
