Re: How to make scanning work 3220 on Debian GNU/Linux

I'm pretty sure it is definitely a problem of missing driver that xerox for any reason is unwilling to release: in fact Vuescan works properly but unfortunately the free version adds a watermark that makes the scan unusable and you need to pay for the "pro" version (at the cheap price of only 79€...)

OK, will give that a try, and if I get a response that would be helpful to others, will post about it here. ex-Gooserider

Hello ex-Gooserider,

I see no one has responded so I would recommend for Debian GNU/Linux issues you would need to speak with Network Support at: 1-800-821-2797.

Thanks,

How to make scanning work 3220 on Debian GNU/Linux

Product Name: WorkCentre 3210/3220
Operating System: Linux

I have been given a Workcentre 3220, and have it on my home network, both of the  PC's can see it and print to it.  It also works as a copier.  I have installed Xsane, Simple-Scan and the scanner backend software listed in the Debian Linux repository.

However both Xsane and Simple-Scan report that no scanners are found.

This post seems similar to https://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Copying-Faxing-Scanning/Linux-quot-Scan-to-Desktop-quot-and-SFTP-...

and

https://foruhttps://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Copying-Faxing-Scanning/Linux-Unable-to-scan-document...

which unfortunately have only gotten the suggestion to contact Xerox support as a response so far.

I found a mention of "TWAIN" compliant software in an article https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/article/en/x_WC3220_en-O2004 but I can't find anything in the repository searching for that.

My guess is that I'm missing some sort of driver but am not seeing anything on either Xerox support or the Debian repository.  I am also not finding anything useful w/ DuckDuck...

Any suggestions / pointers appreciated.
