I'm at my wit's end with this machine. The less said about the wireless setup the better, but now I'm having incredible difficulty getting it to scan a document (5 pages of b&w text) without it generating a 3MB+ file size at the end.
Part of my job involves uploading legal documents to an online portal, which imposes a restriction on files greater than 2MB. I have tinkered with the limited settings available on the Zerox Print and Scan Experience software (which is terrible), but nothin gets the file size down.
For the love of all that's holy, can someone put me out of my misery?
Just bumping this in the hope that someone can help.
Tim,
Your device has Scan to Email / Scan to File capability. You should explore using those options. On a VersaLink C405 I scanned a 6 page B/W test document at 200 dpi to PDF.
Xerox Print and Scan Experience - 1.7mb
Scan to Email - 97 kb
I hope this helps.
Thanks for replying.
My computer has the Windows Fax & Scan programme, but that's not recognising the Xerox scanner (Workstation 6515).
I struggle to see what other options I have with Xerox Print & Scan Experience. Not only is the file size enormous, but the scan quality is very poor (blurred, indistinguishable characters - even when I increase the resolution settings to 400 x 400).
I absolutely must be missing something important here, as surely this Xerox product is more than capable of producing clear scans without devouring all known disk space.
Hi,
Try this:
On the machine EWS login as admin and go to Apps>Scan to>General Settings and Policies and enable MRC High Compression.
Gabi
So these are the only options I can play with using the Xerox Print & Scan Experience app on my desktop:
These settings produce the following result (see below)
As you can see, the text is blurry and of a poor resolution
Bumping this in the remote hope that someone can help me with this...
