Invalid SMTP server's response

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

One of my 7232 printers has stopped sending emails.  It prints fine and LDAP lookup works fine.  Checking the smtp logs on the email server even shows that this printer is talking to the server; it gets as far as the point where the smtp server tells the printer to start sending the data - but that's it, nothing after that.  At the printer the scan to email job is just stuck at 0% on sending and eventually times out with error "027-504:Invalid smtp server's response"  I really don'td think there is anything wrong with my server because all the other 30 printer including other 7232's are working fine.  Has anybody encountered this kind of thing and how to resolve it?
