i had a customer call me about this same issue today on a b8155 that has the latest firmware installed. v114.013.012.01810. mixed size is enabled and when letter and legal originals are copied, everything outputs on legal paper. Here is what i found that corrected the issue. they have legal in tray 1 and letter in the large capacity trays 3 & 4 in the portrait orientation, which is the only direction they will fit. tray 2 had a specialty paper loaded. we took letter and placed in tray 2 in the landscape orientation (so it is the same direction as the legal paper) and that worked. we assigned tray 4 for the specialty paper.
John,
If the device is at machine firmware level at 105.x.x.x. it is the Launch (original) version. There is new Firmware (02/22) at Xerox.com
https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/altalink-c8100-series/content/154429
If you are still having issue with Mixed Size Originals please contact support and get a Log opened if it is not resolved.
I hope this helps.
We have a customer with a C8130 experiencing the same issue with mixed size originals, with machine firmware level at 105.x.x.x. So this hasn't been addressed via SPAR or FW/SW update since last July 2021. Basically, Mixed Size Originals is selected, Auto Paper Select is on by default, 8 1/2 x 11 and 8 1/2 x 14 originals are loaded properly in the document feeder, short-edge-first (by a Xerox technician, who was onsite and brought this to my attention) and all copies are printed onto legal-sized paper.
This issue needs resolution.
Thanks!
I am experiencing the same issue with a Altalink B8045. I have updated the firmware to the latest SPAR 103.008.011.14100 and still have the same issue with copying mixed origionals as the origional post to this thread. Has there been any update from support regarding a fix?
I appreciate the assistance, but sadly still no success.
I'm working with support to find a resolution, but so far, no luck.
Should anyone stumble upon this post, as of 6/23/21, it is unresolved.
For some reason, when copying Mixed Originals, specifically Letter and Legal, all documents print on Legal size paper rather than Letter AND Legal.
I've verified and swapped firmware, quintuple-checked the settings, and tried every variation and permutation I was offered or thought of.
Here's to hoping that the second level can help!
Kenson,
The latest (03/21) SPAR firmware for the C80xx is 103.xxx.001.05400.
The latest for the B80xx is 103.008.001.05400. I would recommend upgrading to the latest to see if it fixes the Mixed Size Original issue.
If it does not then you should contact Support and open a Log. On the plus side they would have you upgrade anyway since your firmware is from 10/19 (B) and 05/19 (C).
You can get links to the Firmware at www.xerox.com/security. On the right side of the page under Security Resources is a Software Release Quick Lookup Table.
I hope this helps.
The firmware levels I am working are as follows:
Altalink B8000 Series - 101.008.019.20200
Altalink C8000 Series - 101.002.059.13300 (I have tried a few firmware levels on this machine testing this issue, it is currently running a SPAR from late 2020 if I'm not mistaken.)
I have done limited testing on the B series device as it is not at the office I work out of.
Kenson,
I know that you stated that the machine is at the latest firmware. What Firmware level is it?
I am seeing Mixed Size Originals issues in Firmware Release Notes for the AltaLink but for the B series.
Thanks
Thank you for the suggestion Tammy, but that article only shows how to set the paper size
As explained in my post, I am copying Mixed Originals where the Legal documents are printing on Legal paper as intended, but my Letter documents are printing on Legal as well instead of Letter.
I have called in multiple times to seek support, but no one seems to have any suggestions for me other then using Build Job, which does not fit my workflow, nor does it solve the issue with the Mixed Originals function printing Letter size documents on Legal Paper.
Hello Kenson-O,
Please take a look at this article for mixed originals.
