Re: Large File Size

Apologies, when it said "load message", I assumed it would load 100% of the message that had timed out, not 5%.

Hi,

I have looked through several solutions but frankly a lot of it is in tech speak which I am not that fluent in and so I come lookin for a straight forward answer that I might be able to to act upon myself.

I recently bought a Workcentre 6515 DNI, for speed and versatility for my own office. I would be the only user but have quite large printing and scanning needs. I am using a standard version of Windows 11.

That's about as technical as I can get.

My issue is that when scanning, the file size is massive. I recently scanned a 23 page documment and the file size was over 11mb. The document was a bank statement so there was a little imagery on the pages.

Now I have been using scanners for many years and my experience with a 23 page bank statement would be that it might come out at around 2-3mb. I do not scan to significant detail as it is mainly text or financial document I need to copy.

I have tried what I can to reduce the quality of the image by reducing the scan resolution to 200 dpi (lowest option available) and I have added the high compression / lowest quality option as well, 11mb is not something I can work with as most of the clients I pass these files on to have a maximum limit of 10mb.

I have seen mention of OCR adding size to scans but I have no idea how to turn it off, I have googled and it seems to originate with Adobe and not the scanner so would this be relevent. Could OCR make 5x file size difference to the pdf?

I have also noticed that the interface I seem to be using seems to be different to the images other posters are using and I wondered if I was using something new or something I shouldn't be using, as with most other printer makers, this is not really well signposted to what scan app you should use. The app am using is Print and Scan Experience.

I apologise for maybe not being too clear in my post, but I am not a techy guy for this type of thing and any hints and tips in plain English would be most appreciated
