Re: MacOS Ventura SMB network scan does not work

Jump to solution

Hey CathyO!

Thanks so much for your prompt and helpful response! I can confirm that after removing the Versalink from my printers section of System Settings, and downloading and installing the new Ventura driver for the printer with the link you gave me really did the trick!

I have tested several different documents to scan to, as well as restarting and shutting off my machine, and every time I log back in, it still works!

I am marking this thread as solved and giving you kudos for Cathy! 🙂

One last question: during the installation of the new Ventura driver, I was prompted to install the Xerox Print and Scan Experience app from the Mac App Store. Is that simply another way to manage the Versalink print and scan functions from my desktop without having to log into the embedded web server as an administrator?

Hello Diogones,

If you haven't already, uninstall and reinstall the printer with the Xerox Ventura Print driver.   If that doesn't work, please call Support for more assistance: 1-800-821-2797

Thanks,

MacOS Ventura SMB network scan does not work

Jump to solution
Product Name: VersaLink B7025/B7030/B7035
Operating System: Other – specify OS in post

Hey all:

I have an M1 Mac Mini running MacOS Ventura 13.1 and a Xerox Versalink B7035 in my office. I use SMB file sharing on the Mac to scan documents into a folder onto my desktop labeled xerox_scans from the Versalink. I have a static IP set up on my router for both the Versalink and the Mac so they can always find each other for the network folder scan to work. Up until now it has worked wtihout issue.

After updating from MacOS 12 Monterey however, the network scanning no longer works reliably. Whenever I attempt to scan any document to my xerox_scans folder, the Xerox prints out an error page with the following: Completed with an Error (018-755): Server connection error in SMB.

I have ensured that my Versalink has the latest firmware update, and I have checked all the network settings to see if anything has changed with the MacOS update, but to no avail.

One temporary fix that sometimes works is to go into System Settings (formerly System Preferences) on the Mac, turn off File Sharing under the General section, reboot the machine, and then re-tick the box to enable it again. Sometimes it works right away and the scanning will work again until either a system reboot or other miscellaneous computer events occur.

Is this simply a new bug in MacOS that I will have to contend with going forward, or does anyone here with more knowledge than me have a solution? If SMB is no longer working properly in Ventura, I wouldn't mind swapping the folder to an FTP share or another supported sharing protocol.
