Thats great :D
I really hope it works, would mean that we at least got a work around!
Thank you!
Kimzi,
I'm going to look into that SMB HowTO you linked!
Thanks,
Jordan
Hey!
It is possible to install SMBUp on the OS X 10.8 Server.
If samba works after that, I do not know cause I have not been able to try it out myself.
Thanks!
There seems to be a major misunderstanding between OSX 10.8 desktop and server. Does anyone know how to set up the server side. We are using Mountain Lion Server which uses runs services and not the normal System Preferences settings. The server overrides all SysPref settings. SMB is an option, but Samba is not. Installing Samba will not work with the server settings as far as I can see.
Hey!
If you want to be our little test bunny when it comes to samba and smbup, I will gladly help :)
I have not managed to get an hold of an 10.8 mac yet, so have not been able to test it out myself.
Thanks!
EDIT: I actually found an in-depth guide on this for 10.7, if youre willing to try this on 10.8 it would contribute a lot :) LINK
TypeASue,
I can get you setup via FTP if you would like to setup scanning that way. I would also be willing to setup a HowTo if needed. Let me know if something like this would be benificial for you.
Thanks,
Jordan
If anybody would like to walk me through getting it set up, I'm game! I am going crazy without being able to scan, putting off all sorts of work that I should have gotten done. Notify me... I'll contact you, or you contact me.
Hey, jroth!
I will have a look at this, hopefully I can get a hold of a 10.8 OS so I can try it out myself.
Will keep you updated :)
Thanks!
Hey, Jroth!
I guess there is no backwards compatibility in OS X?
Cause this is possible on a windows PC.
It should work by installing samba and using smbup.
Thanks!
