I have purchased a new Xerox 6515 DNI printer and connected it to our home Wifi Network. From my computer, I can access the Embedded Web Server. My computer is wired (through an Ethernet cable) to the same network. I can print successfully from my computer when the computer is wired but the printer is connected to the Wifi. Connectivity between the two machines is not an issue in that case. It is an issue when I try to scan though. I followed the steps described in this document:

If I remove the Ethernet cable from my computer, the laptop will automatically connect to the wireless network and the scanned document finds its way nicely into the shared folder I have created. If I connect the Ethernet cable back to the laptop, the scanning fails. The Job Undelivered Confirmation Report that gets printed indicates and Error (018-755): Server connection error in SMB. Is there a solution for this issue or do I need to unplug my Ethernet cable every time I want to scan something? Do I need to have the laptop and the Xerox machine on the same subnet?
The second thing, the link above indicates in Section 7, Step 9 that the New Contact can be created using the computer's host name (better option since the IP address can change). I tried that but I am getting an error:
