Re: Negotiable Instrument Copy Limit Error

Again, those security features are embedded in the check to make it not able to be copied.

The workaround to the law in most countries is as I stated. BW copy of the check or money done at 75% or less, 150% or more the regular size.

If it is just being copied for your records, then there is no reason for it to be in color and the same size as the original.

Even Photoshop doesn't allow recognised forms of currency.

It does not matter who owns the check, the software and the printer do not know your intent with the copy or the print.

Re: Negotiable Instrument Copy Limit Error

I appreciate the reply, and I did not insinuate in the slightest I wanted to copy money, or do anything else illegal.  However, a "check" can be anything we wish it to be.  Even though these are purchased from a bank, and have security features, it is still "ours" and not the government's. The check we wished to copy was filled out by us.  This company is a German owned facility and it is their practise to copy "cheques" for their records before they are sent.

No, you can't make a copy of money, or a cheque, and for good reason.

Xerox isn't even allowed to allow a copier to do so.

It would be an absolute breeze to make a high res duplicate of a check and then cash the thing 2 or more times.

If you need a copy do so in BW and make it 150% or more, 75% or less the size and it might just work.

There are laws against it. Serious laws. Posting on the Internet that you are trying to copy any kin...

Negotiable Instrument Copy Limit Error

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

Hello - we just bought a new 6605N workcentre.  We attempted to copy a hand written company check, to keep for our records but the machine gives a "Copy Limit Error" message.  Further internet reading shows the machine maynot copy certain "negotiable instruments" - but how are we to make legitimate, legal copies of our own checks?  Can this feature be bypassed or passworded to allow limited use?
