As per my documentation, your more seasoned model Xerox doesn't uphold SMB variant 2 or 3 and Windows 10 doesn't turn on SMB adaptation 1 naturally. In the event that you are utilizing SMB and your arrangement looks right than you'll need to check for SMBv1 enablement.
Thank you for your help, I'm sorry I could not give any more information- I'm not super good with printers!
I will give this a go but a little concerned with any vulnerability as you say due to it being a work printer.

Hi Franki123,
It's hard to come to a definitive conclusion with the limited amount of information here. But I can tell you that, according to my documentation, your older model Xerox does not support SMB version 2 or 3 and Windows 10 does not turn on SMB version 1 by default. If you are using SMB and your setup looks correct than you'll want to check for SMBv1 enablement. The simplest way to do that is in the control panel.
Control Panel->Programs->Turn Windows Features On or Off
Enable 'SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support'
Note: SMBv1 is now considered to be unacceptably insecure by most organizations in the wake of the WannaCry vulnerability a few years back. That particular vulnerability has been patched but you do encounter added risk by enabling SMBv1. You can always enable SMBv1, see if it resolves your issues, and then decide if it's worth the risk or not to continue leaving it enabled.
