Re: New I-series firmware missing SSL for scan to email with GMAIL?

Jump to solution

Thank you Joe! I discovered it is "SMTPS" that we should be choosing for Gmail since SSL is no longer an option.  I have tested this on a few machines over the last couple days and it works.  Thanks for all you do, it is very much appreciated!!!

Gmail and Office365 use the StartTLS option (Never once have I seen StartTLS (If available) be the correct option with any service)

Basically, if you need SSL you pick the SMTPS, if you need TLS you pick STARTTLS, if you don't know pick one at random and do the other if it fails.

As always, port 465 is SSL/SMTPS and 587 is TLS/STARTTLS

New I-series firmware missing SSL for scan to email with GMAIL?

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I have installed both a 3655 with the new 073 firmware and a 5945i, and neither had SSL or SSL/TLS listed under SMTP encryption.  Only options are STARTTLS, STARTTLS (if available), SMTPS, and No Encryption.  Gmail uses SSL.  Are new machines/new firmware no longer compatible with Gmail?
