I brought a used WorkCenter 7242 with the understanding that it is 'multifunction' and has scan feature as well. But now as see the screen, there is only Copy fucntion under all services.
I did check under settings (after login in with admin 11111 user) and tried to enable more buttons under all services but I don't have any other services there to assign buttons to!
Also I have setup the smtp settings to my gmail account and have also enabled all the settings of enable emails (like recieving and sending). Still no luck.
Checking the manuals it all says about setting up Scan to Folder or Scan to FTP or Scan to Email options, but I don't have any scan option under settings all together to setup local folder, SMB etc.
Same when I login through the web interface (Centerware), I dont have any tab of scan but only for print. Checking more under properties -> services I see only printing and verified that the email smtp settings are correct.
Can someone advise what am I missing? Is is blocked somewhere? I see under maintanence there is an option to put software codes (5 of them) but don't find any info about it anywhere. Does anyone know what this codes are and if it's related to my issue? I am on firmware version 1.207.5
The Workcentre 7242 is from a time when scan services were sold as optional features. All new models now include those functions as standard basic features. So your machine can do what you want to do, but you'll have to purchase the enablement keys to reveal those functions. Xerox stopped taking orders for that machine 10 years ago, therefore it might be hard to find the codes for purchase. But here are the part numbers that I have for the 2 scan related kits. You would probably want 497K03500 which will enable scan to email as well as network scanning.
497K03500 = NETWORK SCANNING KIT WITH E - MAIL
497K02941 = SCAN TO E - MAIL
