Re: Printing OK, scan & copy has faded line

Purchased Xerox WorkCenter 6515 machine in June 2020, so less than 1 year old.  First scanning issue was blurry and thanks to community forum helps, was able to increase the resolution to 600 dpi (wish it could go higher).  About a week later all my scans whether from the document feeder or the flatbed glass have a faded white line down the middle of the scanned page.

The print comes out clear as can be, so I am at the point I don't think it is a toner or drum issue, although I've taken them out and put them back in.

For scanning the issue is: the document feeder is every other page, the odd pages, the scanbed is on every page.

Again reading through the community help, I cleaned the two glass plates (top and bottom) first with windex and a non-lint rag to wipe dry, that didn't help, the next day I tried using an alchol wipe and lint-free rag to dry and that also did not help. Following day I just used a cloth for glass and that did nothing.   I dusted almost every other part of the document feeder areas and rollers and the flatbed tray, nothing is helping.  Thankfully its not getting worse either!

Attaching 3 pictures so you can see.  And yes, my paper went in feeder tray a little crooked and I didn't fix a beter one for this post. I'm not worried about that.

1. From Feeder Tray Scan

2.  From Flat Bed Scan

3. Printed.

Copying the printed document either in the feeder tray or the flatbed results in the same faded ine as the scans.

I thought about factory resetting, if possible, but doubt that will help as it is probably something more easily fixable.

Thank you in advance for your help!   I look forward to trying to get this working again as I need this machine for my work.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Re: Printing OK, scan & copy has faded line

Thanks Paul. I haven't even heard of the possibility of lost sensitivity or the illumination and will look into that but I don't think there is much out there on that. It doesn't seem like an easy fix :( I'll probably have to buy a support package.
Sorry your paper is feeding crooked too.

Re: Printing OK, scan & copy has faded line

Sorry not to be of more help. I have the same printer 6515DLI. Mine is fine. It does feed a bit crooked and I would love to fix that and or deskew in software.
It sounds like one of the two scanner sensors has lost sensitivity or the illumination us not even. But I am sure you have worked that out!
Can you see a problem with the scan bar if you scan your face?
