Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

Ok. How do you created the existing templates? By template pull? Or accessing to the web page on the printer?

If all the other templates disappear is because you are using a template pull. The templates are XST files. Just copy them from the old location to the one inside scanFlow Store. You will find a template folder there.

Templates created manualy inside the printer via web page and the ones in an external folder can coexist, so you shouldn't have any problem having both.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

I understand. I actually haven't used Scan to Desktop; I was still only experimenting with ScanFlowStore. It's just that to use a custom template, it requires you to specify where to scan, where to flow, where to store, and finally to assign that process to an MFP. Assigning that process to an MFP deleted all of the other listed templates on there.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

I'm assuming that you are referring to Scan to Desktop software (Paperport). Sorry but I have no skills to help you on that. Sorry. Please consider contacting your local welcome support center.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

I'll try it out some more later. It's sort of ridiculous, but the problem I'm having right now is that the only MFP I have to connect to is the shared office MFP. It turned out that when I configured the MFP to use my new "Packing_List" process, which scans, OCRs, and files accordingly on the server, I accidentally erased everyone else's routings such that the only ones that remained were Default and Packing_List. That impeded a lot of people's work and understandably frustrated them, so I'm sort of stuck erring on the side of caution now, which meant removing the new routing, allowing them to add back in the old ones, and refraining from further testing.

Anyways, what I'm getting at is this question: does anyone know how to add your new routing to the list of routings on your MFP's scan process without erasing all of those already programmed by another source?

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

You are right, OCR accuracy could be a problem if you intent to process large amounts of text, but for small areas like invoice number, names capture, it works fine. You can do a few tests to improve. Try to use the several dark options and see what it fits best. Don't forget to set the OCR language to increase accuracy on some letters.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

Hey everyone,

I've given the test run of ScanFlowStore a try and with only an hour of self-guided configuration, it seems like it's going to work for exactly what we need it to. I'm going to pitch it to my supervisor later and see what he thinks. Thanks again for the suggestion!

The only thing that's still a bit of an issue is the OCR accuracy, but as I understand, no OCR technology is going to be fully accurate regardless. It's still a heck of a lot more accurate and infinitely more flexible than the software that came with Neat desktop scanner. Still, if anyone has any tips for improving OCR accuracy, that would be icing on the cake.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

The Zone OCR technology featured in ScanFlowStore sounds tailor-made for what we're hoping to do. Thanks for letting me know about this, because it sounds very promising.

Re: Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

Hi,

What you are looking for is more than the scan to descktop can offer you. It is possible, but not the solution that best fit your needs. There is other factor very important that you should consider, is speed and produtivity.

Please take a look at www.scanflowstore.com. Is a Nuance product (same as Paperport) and  is made for Xerox Multifunccion devices. You will be pleased!

Questions About Xerox Scan to Desktop

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

My organization is looking for a solution to scan packing documents and organize them by data collected using OCR. Nothing is handwritten, so the OCR should be able to handle recognition. The problem is getting the process automated. We have looked at several solutions and none quite delivers the speed and lack of manual input we're looking for.

I was thinking that, especially given my company's relationship with Xerox, it would be ideal to use a product like Scan to Desktop as a solution to this problem. Currently, however, I'm not certain if I'll get exactly what I'm looking for. My needs from the product are:

1) Scans immediately go to OCR program

2) OCR scans the document's text and locates the name of the organization on the document

3) Document is filed according to the name of the organization found

That sort of one-click solution might be a longshot, but those are the features I'm ideally looking for. Does anyone have experience with the product to know if it's capable of doing that, or could anyone perhaps recommend a product that would?
