Seems like I have a scan template with wrong name, cause WC shows only 3 templates (including default) from 5 (which I see at Scan tab on CWIS page), but only on netscan network settings page I have one more template with black rhombus with a question mark in name.
How can I delete this one?
(And how can I change CWIS language)

It's hard to say what it would be from your description. Can we assume that the option to delete it does not show up like it does for the other templates?
What does it say for Description? If it says "TWAIN" it will keep coming back because it is being generated by a TWAIN driver on a client PC in your network.
It is possible it is coming from another device through the template pool, if that is the case just change the IP of the pool to be an invalid one and it should clear upon a reboot. But be absolutely certain you do not have a Fiery print server attached to it first.
This is not coming through the template pool, but is it possible to enable one to move templates in it from WC 7830 so as to make them available for deleting without CWIS?

Firstly, CWIS shows it only at Display Settings page:
While scan template list doesn't display this on the face of it. But it simply displayed second with empty name, if I inspect template list with Firefox Firebug.
I can change this list item name to make it clickable, and its appears on it position.
Now I can click it and open its settings, but CWIS return it at new position, while at second one appears the same unclickable empty-named item. I get the option to delete, but it useless, it refers to the item looks like cloned, and not to the one really wanted to remove. I click [Delete], It disappears, but the problem remains. Language is controlled by the browser, not the device, for Fireflox:
Chrome I believe is Options> Under the Bonnet > Web Content > Languages & Spellchecker settings (I advise not using Chrome on Xerox devices, they just don't play well with each other, not sure why, I use Chrome for day-to-day, but Firefox and IE with the printers)
Template appears to be a corruption, the kind of thing you would see if using a corrupted clone file, or a clone from another device or a major firmware change, in the case of the Connectkey machines like this one, it would be a clone from a firmware that starts with 071(Connectkey 1.0) applied to one starting with 072(Connectkey 1.5) If that is the case, there will probably be no fix except an ALTboot to scrape all settings. I will keep digging for information and update if and when I find a resolution (Not easy without either finding a way to break mine the same way, or finding another report of someone who has actually resolved it)
<Edit> Is it possible there was a non-standard (English) keyboard used for that particular entry with the symbol? Something like "ă" for instance? It could be the system doesn't recognise the character and is faulting it, but that is entirely a guess. It would give me something to throw at some devices to see about recreating the issue.

Yes, Joe, most likely there was Cyrillic or Latin (Romanian) non-standard symbol used. Sorry for that system saved the template but fault to deal with later.
I tried to create printer settings clone file with unchecked "Workflow Scanning" and "Templates" options, & then install it, but templates (and it seems the rest) remains unchanged.
Also I try to make this template displayed at the top position. (looking forward a message from system describing the issue). And after that (& till now) I cannot open any scan-related menu item. (system waits till going to power-save mode; setting back has no effect)
Has WC 7830 return to factory defaults option? (hard to find it in manuals) Data losing is not the problem…

There is no user-friendly way to reset the device. Best bet is to have a tech do an ALTboot no data backup. This will wipe it out completely.
But, the firmware you have listed is the launch firmware, there are many fixes available that should be done, in fact there is an entire upgrade to Connectkey 1.5 that should really be done. The latest version is 072.010.124.23401.
This will take you from Connectkey 1.0 to Connectkey 1.5, there are significant upgrades to the scannig capability, including support for Server 2012. But....
Going this far into an upgrade means no clone can be used, technically no upgrade should be done. It should be a complete load, what is refered to as a "Forced Altboot, no data backup, no clone"
As a support rep that deals with this particular device daily, I *highly* suggest this route, the tech deals with the upgrade, but you would then need to set it up again from scratch as everything will be gone.
On the plus side, it is guaranteed to solve the template issue and give you more robust scan capability, as a minus you will need to take the time to redo the settings, but as you stated, that is not an issue.

I made firmware upgrade through CWIS to v.072.010.004.09100 6 days ago; now to v.072.010.124.23401 and get the same result. Scan templates remains, CWIS returns these empty-named & badly-named ones & delete option for second one does nothing.
Is there a guide to follow to make "Forced Altboot" for my device?
