Repeated problems scanning to a third party program

Product Name: VersaLink C405 Color Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

I work for a client who has the VersaLink C405, and his problem is that when he tries to scan a document into his appraisal software, the source he has used in the past stops working. When I reinstall the drivers, it works for all of half a day before not working again. I've made sure there aren't any other drivers that are causing this issue, removed any other printer devices in an attempt to make sure he's not clicking the wrong one. I don't know what could be happening unless something about turning the printer off between uses is causing a problem. The only other thing I could think of it being is user error, as I have no issues getting it to work when I'm there.

 

Any ideas on why this could be a continual problem?
