Re: Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

Thanks for all the replys.  Don't know if it was a combination of all the things I tried or just the last thing I did - but the last thing was doing a Software Reset on the machine.  Did that and voila - it works!

Re: Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

Hello llbskt,

We have seen issues recently with SMB scanning on Windows 7 when anything from Windows Live Essentials is installed on the computer.  Windows Live Essentials appears to change the way Windows does SMB authentication.  If you have Windows Live Essentials installed, or any of the programs from that software package, please uninstall and try scanning again.

You can click here to see what is included in Windows Live Essentials.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,

Re: Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

Thanks so much for the quick reply.

OS I'm scanning to - Windows 7

No firewall

I've tried to put many variations of the path as the login with no luck.

What has me so confused is one minute it worked and the next nothing.  I'm almost to the point of calling service to check if the scanner is "broken".

Re: Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

That is correct, you will not find much of a Status code on this error sheet. I do believe there is another place where you can gather that information but off-hand I do not recall.

However, lets get started with resolving your issue:

1. What OS are we scanning to?

2. What firewall are you using?

3. Can you goto another computer and visit the share using the following \\computer\share (With your information of course)

4. Try the login name as Computer\Username (Depending your settings - might even be Domain\User)

Get back to us and hopefully we can figure something out.

Thank you,

Re: Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

I get no error other than on the Scan to File Confirmation Report - Status - Failed.

After I hit Scan on the machine, it appears to work - says 'transferring", "deleted" and spits out the confirmation report.  Is there an error log I can look for?

Scan Failed - Xerox 4260

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

My network scanning recently quit working and no changes were made.  Now when I try to reset the File Repository to any folder no matter what computer on the network I get a "FAILED" result.

These were the settings that worked until recently - In the repository - SMB, IP Address.  The "Share" box has the name of the folder i.e.  scan (which is visible to anyone on the network).  The "Document Path" box is blank.  The "Login" has only the computer name, example - bob.  Password is that of the 'bob' machine.

Anyone have any suggestions?  I've been working on this way too long.
