Re: Scan To: SMB Failed: Cannot write to

Nati_Co,

How many files are in Folder_1?  Do the files have unique names or are they sequentially named DOC001,  DOC002, etc.

There is a limitation with the AltaLink that limits the DOC name up to DOC099.  The workaorund is to give each file a unique name or turn date and time stamping with the file name.

I hope this helps

Re: Scan To: SMB Failed: Cannot write to

Unfortunately this is not a valid response.  I have tried dialing the 800 number and instead they referred me to the company that sold us the machine.  I have already contacted them for this issue and the representative basically said there's no solution.  I'm attempting to contact customer service for CBS once more to work with there customer service department.

Hello Nati_Co

I see no one has responded to this post yet. So, at this point I would recommend contacting your local Xerox Support Department to speak with a Product Specialist for more assistance. Please call 1-800-821-2797.

Scan To: SMB Failed: Cannot write to

Product Name: AltaLink B8145 / B8155 / B8170 Multifunction Printer
Operating System: Windows Server 2012 R2 x64

Using the "Scan To Destination" feature via "SMB" protocol  to "\\servername\sharename\folder_1" I get the attached error message.

I'm able to successfully scan to other existing or new folders within the same server\share and if I create a new folder with the same name it works as well.  The issue seems to be following the contents of folder_1 but I cannot move the contents of folder_1 or create a new folder for the scanning workflow because underlying business depencies and workflow.

- Is this a possible a bug within the Xerox firmware?

- Why does the Xerox device care about the contents of a folder when sending a scan over SMB protocol?
