It says cannot connect to SMTP network server on the printout.

This is really annoying.
Have you verified your network settings are correct (TCP/IP, Gateway, DNS, Subnet Mask) - also, make sure IPv6 for DNS is disabled (if this is an option on that model). What SMTP server and port number are you trying to connect to - does it require encryption? Also, what firmware is your machine currently on?
