Scan to email with gmail

I have found after working with Xerox level 2 support that the printers that have the option for STARTTLS will work with G-Suite if the setting for Less Secure Apps is set to allow - Once this is allowed then the SMTP.GMAIL.COM server can be used on port 587 with SMTP AUTH on STARTTLS encryption protocol. OK, I was able to Scan to Email work with GMAIL, but it only works with when sending to a GMAIL account.   Use aspmx.l.google.com as the SMTP Server.  Use port 25.   Under Authentication use "no Authentication.  Now please remember this on the return Email address do not put in the email that you will be sending to or else the GMAIL server thinks it is SPAM and trashes it.   This took me  a while to figure out.  Everything worked fined when I used my hotmail account in the "Return Email Address" and then scanned and emailled to my gmail account.  I hope this helps!

 All I needed was some models that do work. Our local xerox rep had no idea and also suggested that there was not any xerox that supports smtp/ssl. I will recontact our sales rep with the models you gave me to see if we can swap out our current machines for ones that work.

I do know about stunnel but we opted to not use it due to lack of support and it not being real user friendly, if we get new IT members in they have a hard time working with it. Currently we are using smtp2go which works great and easy to work with for the new guys.

At this point in time (March 2011) only the WC 3635, 4150, 4260 and 7120 support SMTP with SSL encryption without a intermediate PC helping to encrypt. The reason is that the Gmail servers require "An Encrypted Connection (SSL)" and many of our Xerox devices do not offer that ability. It is possible to use a PC application called "STunnel" to take in the emails and forward them to the GMail server using SMTP/SSL. This has been used successfully at some customer sites. If you have details about STunnel that we can add to this tip, please let us know. There is unconfirmed suggestions from Google blogs the a PC app called SoftStack scrFreeSMTP does a similar forwarding operation. Hello all,

New here at the forum so don't know if this is the right section to post this, if not sorry.

We (several different schools) currently use several different Xerox products through out the districts most common being the ColorQube 9201. Anyways 2 of our schools currently use google- gmail in particular and the other dozen or so schools are going to begin implementing google/gmail in the near future. The problem we are facing is that we can not configure any of our current Xerox products to work with google without going through a 3rd party for smtp (like smtp2go).

My question is are there any Xerox MFPs that are compatible with google? Say like the WorkCentre 7500 series, can they be configured to use google without going through a 3rd party?
