Should be right on the main screen

The other things mentioned would be Advanced Settings > Resolution and Quality/File Size

And then Filing Options > File Format > Image Only (This one will greatly reduce the size if available, but probably not a good idea as it makes the pdf unsearchable.)

In the case of keeping it searchable, while needing to further reduce size from the other things listed you could do so after the fact.

For instance, if you have Adobe Acrobat (not reader) you can go to File > Save as other... and choose Reduced Size PDF , or Optimized PDF...

Other examples here

Lastly there is an oddity in Xerox scans where choosing Auto instead of Color or BW gives a higher file size. So set Output Color to Either Color or BW, not Auto (This won't make a big difference, but every Kb helps)

This is helpful.  I'm copying an insurance policy and it comes out 67MB for 265 pages.  Where would I find the setting to scan as photo or text.  That could be the problem.  Thanks.  ds

You have given absolutely nothing to work with here so this answer is overly generalized.

File size in pdf is coming from OCR, Encryption, compression, resolution.

OCR results in much larger file sizes,

PDF's created for print typically starts around theoretical 200 DPI, but the PDF format shows PPI, not DPI. As pdf actually uses PPI instead.

Stripped down as simply as possible, PDF does not have resolution, only the images inside of them do.

As well, most MFP's have an option to scan as photo or text, text will be much lower file size because it accounts for the content of the document, where photo accounts for the entire page.Tied into the above

A reduction should be seen when enabling background suppression as well, and obviously higher compression, but that depends upon the model.
