Scanner stops communicating with my PC

Product Name: Work Centre 6515
Operating System: Windows 10

My scanner will work beautifully for several weeks, then for no apparent reason stops communicating with my PC.  I frequently get error code 018-755: Server connection error in SMB.  When the problem occurred a couple of weeks ago, my IT guy thought with was a problem with my firewall. And we thought we had it fixed!  However, yesterday it happended again.  I can get an indication that the scanner is not  identified as a secure device but I don't know how to change that.  Any ideas?

Thanks -- gave it a go.  Still not successful but the error code changed tp 027-529: Data read failure from SMB server.

If you have the scan assistant uninstall it. Then try installing it. It is the TWAIN driver linked above. I've linked to Win10 64 bit version, so change to Win10 if you are not running 64 bit.

We have been using this scanner for 1 year and all of a sudden we started getting error 018-755 for no apparent reason and our scans are not reaching our computer.  I tried calling but they want to charge $25.  Your help is greatly appreciated!
