Schappy26,
I work at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg and we have the 5638, 5645, and 5655 and we have the Scan to Email and Scan to Home working with AD. I believe the only difference is that we use CAC Cards to log on to our computers and we use them on the Xerox. When our customers log on they only have to enter in the CAC pin and they have the option to Scan to Email or to their network drive. Also we had to upgrade the firmware to 021.120.065.00190.
Hope this helps.
schappy26,
Any valid character for the UNC share will be fine. You can check for characters that are not supported by a quick search. I'm sure there is software that could interact with the machine but I honestly have not messed with it. Depending on what your users did before you could setup a network share on that laptop and they could attach the file to an e-mail or something back to their desk or thumb drive?
Thank you,
Jordan

Thanks, Jordan. It looks as though by 5638 has that module installed. I suppose we could set that up and let the user be responsible for moving the file from their home directory to another share where we can monitor for pickup by our document management system.
Do you have any info on the keyboard characters that I cannot find - the exclamation point and the question mark?
Also, we are thinking of putting a laptop near the the MFC and use it as a kiosk where the user can scan from the laptop (we'd use this method with our Ricoh MFCs as well so we can have a universal solution). Is there a Xerox client that runs on a Windows 7 device so we can interface with the MFC?
Thank you for your assistance.
schappy26,
You would be looking for the feature called Scan to Home. It however is not on that model machine. You would need to configure the backend repository to your users home directory and then manually add the templates with their name and document path..
If all the machine are 56xx series you could setup one machine and clone to the others.
Thank you,
Jordan

I have a WorkCentre 5638 that I have been configuring Network Scan Templates for and I'm trying to make it easier for the users to scan to their locations - is there a way to integrate with Active Directory to get a list of users to display on the screen so they can simply select their userid and only have to enter their password? It just seems too hard for some of these users to type that much info on that little keyboard.
Also, we have special characters in our passwords - I couldn't find a question mark or exclamation point on any of the keyboard screens. Do these characters exist?
I'd also like the management of the scanning function to be more centralized and apply to many multifunctions throughout our environment. Are these features native to the multifunction or do I need to look into third party software for them?
The device is on Software Version 25.054.33.000
