Hello kolney,
Sorry to hear the set up was so difficult, but glad to know you finally got it resolved.
Have a great day!
Thanks very much for your reply. I eventually had to concede and contact Xerox technical support who helped me set up a separate GMail address specificially for the C405. To be honest, the setup prcess to get this to work was nothing like what is descibred in any of the technical manuals. I would guess anyone with basic IT knowledge (such as myself) would have never have been able to get this working without technical assistance based on how the manuals are written.
Hello kolney,
I searched our online Knowledgebase and found these steps you can try to resolve the error. If this doesn't work, you will need to speak to a specialist for more assistance: 1-800-821-2797
I have a brand new Versalink C405DN printer which is connected directly to one of the 4 ethernet ports on the back of my wireless router. I have run the set-up and printing ok. I have tried to set up the printer to scan to email and this is where the problems have started.
I have set up all of the SMTP settings which I believe are correct based on my email providers settings (iPage) but the printer fails to send to email each time.
After trying to send an email - The message reads "Error 16-772 - Unable to connect to the SMTP server. Check SMTP server name and DNS settings.
I have been in touch with my technical support from iPage who have advised me that I am using the correct settingds
my settings are currently
Device Name - myname@mydomain.co.uk
Server address = smtp.ipage.com
Outgoing SMTP Port Number = 587
Connection Security = OFF
Outgoing SMTP Authentification = OFF
SMTP AUTH User Name = myname@mydomain.co.uk (set same as Device name)
Password - My Password
Hope someone is able to help me
