Sorry, I have nothing more, if DNS is setup and correct, it certainly should not be stating that it isn't set up, and I have never come across any device that had a bug like that.

If you are setting up GMAIL and the primary DNS is set as 8.8.8.8 then the only way(s) for it to fail is if

1. The gateway is wrong so it can't get to 8.8.8.8

2. Proxy/Firewall

As for setup, with exception to the SMTP server, all the big ones are pretty near identical. So GMAIL is exactly the following

The only change for Office 365 is changing the SMTP server from smtp.gmail.com to smtp.office365.com and of course an email from that service to use. But STARTTLS, port 587 is the defacto standard at this point.

There is a bug in older firmware where Office365 could fail unless you disabled IPv6 (see below), so if you are not on a spar firmware, you may want to update it, or try this:

And change Dual Stack to IPv4

Thanks for your help, but I'm still getting the same error.

I've downloaded the User and Admin guides but they arne't much help.

Do you know a good, easy to read, guide for setting the Versalink up, as I may of missed something else?

Thanks

You have not setup DNS in the TCP/IP settings of the printer, so it can't resolve the server that is smtp.gmail.com in order to communicate with it.

EWS > Connectivity > Ethernet and then Edit the DNS section

If you don't know what the DNS servers are, a typically safe bet is to use the Gateway address as the Primary Server and 8.8.8.8 as the secondary

Scanning with Versalink C405

Jump to solution
Product Name: VersaLink C405 Color Multifunction Printer

Hello,

I've read through a few posts here, and else where, but am still having trouble setting up the scanning. I've tried using Hotmail and Gmail but it won't scan.

The error sheet gives the result:

Completed with an Error (016-772): DNS server un-sets up in SMTP.

If anyone could help with what I need to change in the email settings that would be great.

Thanks

Lee
