Turns out it was the feed tray sensitivity that needed to be reset. Thank you for your help!
No point changing a default that is already correct, but you just log in as admin and scroll down to the bottom and choose Customize
But since you already state Paper Supply as well as Original Size are both Auto (Actually Auto Paper Select and Auto Detect) there is nothing left to change as a default. As stated, it really has to be something throwing the sensor off. Until you can find it (or get a tech to fix it) you are stuck with not using Auto to get it done temporarily
Typically means you have 11*17 laying on the glass and don't realize, or there is something on the white backing pad (On the lid) that the sensor sees as a paper edge.
Other than that, make sure the original size wasn't changed by some shady character to 11*17 as a default
Recently, the auto select from the feeder tray on the AltaLinkC8045 changed from tray 3 to tray 1. When the sheet to be copied is placed in the feeder tray with the long edge of the paper (11" side of 8.5x11), the auto select takes tray 1 which has 11x17 paper. The copier used to take the paper from tray 3 (8.5x11 paper) if the page to be copied was 8.5x11. Now everything is printed on the 11x17 paper. How can we reset the auto select so it detects the correct size and chooses the correct tray?
