Re: Setting up C405 scan to pc

Jump to solution

I'm attempting to set up a new SMB contact, but I keep receiving a Error (18-505) : SMB-DOS protocol error 1-005.  From what I can tell this means that the password that I'm entering in the new SMB contact data field is wrong.  I'm positive that the password that I'm entering is the password that's associated with the email/account that I use to log into my Windows 11 account.  I've even tried using no password and that doesn't work.

I know that the IPv4 address is correct and I've enabled the sharing fucntions on the "Xerox Scans" folder that the scans are set to be delivered to.  Does anyone know what I can do to troubleshoot this?Xerox TS'ing 01.jpg

This solution does not work for me !

when I reach the prompt command I have noted that the on screen IP4 address is different but despite repeated trying I cannot actually change it to the correct one using these instructions

more detail please !

Hi,

Use Internet Explorer or Edge instead of Chrome.

when it tries to "browse SMB" it waits a few seconds then comes up with the error "unexpected communications error, cannot browse at this time"

I've tried it on normal ethernet link and wifi, but the same result

printing is fine.

I followed all this and it still didn't work for me.

I was getting error 018-505

What finally worked for me was putting a password onto the pc then entering the password details in the SMB page. Hurrah, only took me 12 hours. It clearly says that if you don't use a password you can leave this blank but that didn't work for me.

Also had to manually search for a windows update to get my laptop to connect.

Great machine now it's going though.
