Setting up scan to network function

Product Name: WorkCentre 7328/35/45/46 built-in controller
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hi @all,

how do it setup the "Scan to network" function on a Xerox WorkCentre 7335 ?

I am using Windows 10 64bit, created a shared folder in order to scan to it. The printer is connected to my router via Power-WiFi, printing is already possible via network. I tried to set up the Network Scanning option by creating an address book entry with all the required fields, but after that, I cannot find it anywhere in the Scan to network menu or main menu on the machine. So I can't even check if I set it up right.
My problem is that I don't know anything about Xerox Workcentres, I somehow have to "get into" the menus and stuff. Due to the poor Instruction for the 7335 available on the Xerox page, I decided to ask this forum.
Are there any other pages that explain this issue ? Or is anybody here able to lead me through ?

Thanks in advance and please ask if more data is needed - it surely is ;-)

Regards
Gerbil

Re: Setting up scan to network function

Address book can be found inside of Email or Scan to PC options.

In your case, you need Scan To PC

If it is not on screen, you need to put it there, which can be done at the printer, login as admin and go to Machine status > Tools > System Settings > Common Service Settings > Screen/Button Settings > All Services > Change Settings

But even then, you will be able to try it, but it is going to fail. This printer is old, it doesn't support SMBv2 or 3 and never will. So you would then need to undo the changes MS made to block SMBv1 (In near every OS, they went as far back as XP to kill it off last year). I will under no circumstance show how to undo those changes here, and there is no point trying, you will just have it disabled again on the next major Window update anyway.

So, to make scan work, you are going to have to use FTP. And there is no sense in me writing that up here, so just follow it at this link, but use the scan folder you created instead of the one in the instructions (step 7)

Once you have FTP running and working, move on to the Xerox, everything is done via CWIS (the webpage built into it, found via putting the IP of the printer into the address bar of your browser)

Click the following in the order shown

3.JPG

Fill it in like this, obviously use your PC IP address and not the 192.18.1.100 address shown, and the user/pass created for the FTP user in the linked instructions, nothing goes in the path, it isn't needed since you made the share the root of your FTP.

Now ,do these steps in order, clearly the name won't matter, I just tossed your screen name in there in this case.

Now this.

This and this

Then over yonder to the printer, go into Network Scanning (if not there, add per above instructions) and choose yourself to scan to you

If you are special and will be the only person scanning, you can just have the default template go to your PC

Re: Setting up scan to network function

Hello Joe,

first of all thanks for your quick answer.

I just setup the Xerox 7335 machine, as well as the FTP server and firewall options on the host OS as described by you. But I cannot access to the CWIS as you call it. The browser displays an error message saying something like - sorry for the perhaps bad translation: "Secure Connection failed. SSL counterpart reports an invalid message authentication code. Error Code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_ALERT.

I assume that this 7335 Workstation doesn't support configuration via menu from a host computer due to its age. Or I am wrong with that ?

Would you please be so kind and help me with that once again ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Setting up scan to network function

Correct, it has to be set up on the web interface and can't be done at the machine.

Try another web browser, Chrome and Firefox have issues on older printers, else, there should be an option to continue anyway
