Re: Unreliable Scanning Setup

Hello cinderblock,

I searched the knowledgbase and found the steps to set up Scanning. Not sure if that will help you, but if you need more assistance please call 1-800-821-2797.

Thanks,

Unreliable Scanning Setup

Product Name: WorkCentre 6515
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

How is one supposed to setup easy scanning (and printing) with this printer? The first time I set it up, I was able to "Scan to dekstop". It was nice. Walk up to scanner, put document in, hit buttons, select my computer, hit scan, wait for scan to finish, remove scan, walk back, all done.

Now it's a *constant* battle. The "Scan to" function is simply broken. I've gone through so many different versions of Xerox software that I can't even keep them all straight. Xerox Print Experience. Xerox Easy Print. Xerox Easy Solution. How is anyone supposed to keep all the options straight? There are few indications of which software is superseeds others.

All of the support pages show non working solutions. It's like people were hired just to answer questions in plausible ways even if it doesn't actually solve the problems customers are having.

Why is printing and scanning software always such a disaster?

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Buy printer
  2. Connect to network
  3. Add printer on Windows 10 (automatic network scan)

Expected results:

  • Printing works
  • Scanning works

Actual results

  • Printing has defaults that are difficult to change (I just want one sided printing most of the time)
  • Scanning at the scanner always breaks. Cannot scan directly to computer. SMB share is broken.
  • Scanning at dekstop/wokstation only works with app, cannot scan with other scanning apps like Acrobat
